A Tortured Hero with a Heart of Gold

Growing up on the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Javier Almeida has only his older sister to protect him. When she’s sold to a human-trafficker, he vows to hunt down those responsible.

Years later, Titan Group’s Delta team finds him, tattooed and brawling, a vigilante protector with information they want. They take him in and train him, working him harder than a man should be driven, until he’s a soldier harboring an obsession. Ready for revenge, Javier ghosts his way across the globe, tracking the men who took his sister and working elite private security jobs.

Meets Sweet and Sassy

Jilted at the altar, Sophia Cole turns the reception into a one-woman party. She’s intent on devouring all the cake and champagne, so she can bask in the calories she’s been avoiding. In the midst of the revelry, he walks in, the one man she can never ignore.

Javier is her older brother’s black ops teammate—an automatic Do Not Go There. But if there’s one thing better than fondant and a buzz to ease the wounds of a cheating fiancé, it might be a one-night stand with a South American military man.

Game Changer

Javier didn’t expect to see Sophia again. He never thought he would even want to see her again. He shouldn’t have touched her, but his mind won’t stay away from her.

Now, Sophia Cole is thousands of miles away from the safety of her parents’ lavish estate and working alongside him in hell. She’s a staffer at an Embassy, and he’s there to keep them alive. There are bombs and bullets and blood-hungry enemies.

And then she’s taken. Gone. Just like his sister. But so much worse.

Connie's Thoughts

Delta: Revenge is the long-awaited next installment in the Delta series and it does not disappoint!  I swear just when I think that I have read Cristin Harber’s best work, she amazes me yet again.  This book is the most intense and steamiest yet! The panty-melting heat starts early and gets increasingly hotter as Javier—known as “Brazil” to the Delta Team—and Sophia get further involved.  Trust me, you will never think about cake and scissors in the same way after reading this story!
Javier is intent on avenging the taking of his sister by a nasty cartel and has dedicated his life to this mission.  Can he keep his focus on this goal and love Sophia at the same time?  When he is forced to choose between saving Sophia and bringing down the evil man that took his sister, which will he choose?  You’ll have to read to find out!
Along with the danger, intrigue, and violence—which makes this book realistic and believable, by the way—Cristin injects some humor to take the edge off, and we get to catch up with some Titan and Delta characters that we know and love, including my number one book boyfriend, boss man Jared Westin.
This book can be read as a standalone, but I promise you will enjoy it so much more if you have read the titles in the Titan and Only series, and the first book in the Delta series.  Be sure to check those out.  And be warned, you will not be able to put this one down until you turn the last page!

From Liliana Hart’s New York Times bestselling MacKenzie family comes a new story by New York Times bestselling author Cristin Harber...

When Luke Brenner takes an off-the-books job on the MacKenzie-Delta joint task force, he has one goal: shut down sex traffickers on his personal hunt for retribution. This operation brings him closer than he’s ever been to avenge his first love, who was taken, sold, and likely dead.

Madeleine Mercier is the daughter of an infamous cartel conglomerate. Their family bleeds money, they sell pleasure, they sell people. She knows no other life, sees no escape, except for one. Maddy is the only person who can take down Papa, when every branch of law enforcement in every country, is on her father’s payroll.

It’s evil. To want to ruin, to murder, her family. But that’s what she is. Ruined for a life outside of destroying her father. She can’t feel arousal. Has never been kissed. Never felt anything other than disgust for the world that she perpetuates. Until she clashes with a possible mercenary who gives her hope.

The hunter versus the virgin. The predator and his prey. When forced together, can enemies resist the urge to run away or destroy one another?

Connie's Thoughts

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lucky 13 rating:  5 Clovers = I love it!
As a reader, I love it when different worlds collide, and that’s what the MacKenzie Family World series is all about.  Since I am already hooked on anything related to Titan and Delta, reading this novella was a no-brainer, and I finished it off in one sitting.
Cristin brings on the heat in this one from the first moment.  Luke and Maddy are hot, hot, hot!  Put them together in Miami, mix in some fast cars, sweaty underground fighting, sexy models, and spicy Cuban food, and you’ve got a five-alarm story!!
One of the things that I love most about Cristin’s writing is the way that she brings together seemingly contradictory feelings, emotions, and situations.  This story was no exception, as exemplified by Luke’s cravings for pleasure and pain; Maddy’s sexual innocence despite the family business; and the juxtaposition of the rich and famous with the seedy and dirty in Miami.
I have a soft spot for tortured heroes, so was totally drawn in to Luke and his desire for revenge in honor of his long-lost girlfriend, while trying to fight off his attraction to the sexy and mysterious Maddy, who to him represents the face of evil.
And I couldn’t help but have a girl-crush on Maddy with her cool car, awesome wardrobe, and protective nature.  She is the “poor little rich girl” personified, and was so deserving her happily ever after.
I’m anxiously awaiting the next installment in Cristin Harber’s Delta series, and will be putting the other Mackenzie Family stories on the TBR pile!
