People only reveal what they want you to see…
Chad Kirkwood has a secret. One he’s determined to keep buried until he’s ready to divulge it. So when he shows up on Katie’s doorstep in answer to a job posting, he stretches the truth and tells her only what she needs to know.
Katie Wicken is broken. Left to pick up the pieces of a called-off engagement and a failing farm after the death of her father, she’s determined not to let anyone else into her heart. Then she hires Chad, and Katie finds herself glancing in his direction, watching him work, and thinking about him after the sun goes down.
Something begins to awaken within Chad, too. It’s been forever since he’s felt such a genuine connection and been able to fully enjoy his life. Hell, live his life. But when Chad’s lie catches up with him, he’s forced to come clean.
And the truth could break Katie’s heart once again.
Grief and pain can make people do crazy things… but so can love.

Chad lay back on the futon in the barn office, convinced he could still hear the occasional snap of the bonfire even though he’d extinguished it hours ago. Still, he couldn’t shake the thought, and he found himself padding across the office in his socks to peer out the window. Sure enough, the fire was completely out, and only a sliver of gray smoke still rose from the pit. He was about to head back to his bed when he noticed the strip of light shining through the partially drawn curtains upstairs in Katie’s house.
It had been more than three hours since their fireside conversation. Three hours since their kiss. Yet, Katie’s bedroom light was still on, too. She should be in a deep sleep by now. So should you, you idiot, he chastised himself silently, shaking his head at still being up so late. He initially wondered if something was wrong. Perhaps Mason had suffered a bad dream and Katie was attempting to console him. However, as quick as the assumption flitted into his mind, it was quashed. She’s awake for the same reason you are, he told himself.
Their kiss. The tender way they’d embraced each other. Chad had never experienced the same things Katie had in life, and he wouldn’t pretend to have endured her pain. That said, only those who’d hit their own personal rock bottom could identify with the despair and anguish Katie had been subjected to. He didn’t necessarily know her, but he understood her, at least enough to offer her the only thing he really had to give.
His heart.
M. Lynne Cunning has always wanted to be an author, but it wasn’t until she discovered National Novel Writing Month and all the insanity that goes along with it that she began to truly realize her love for writing stories. While she doesn’t limit herself to writing only specific genres, her first two published novels, Until I'm Found and Blurred Lines, are considered Romantic Suspense. Her new book, Who I Am With You (to be released February 2016), will be the first in a contemporary romance series. She also doesn’t believe that the traditional typical “happily ever after” is always the way to go. You’ve been forewarned.

Title: The Spencer Cohen Series, Book 1
Series: The Spencer Cohen Series
Author: N.R. Walker
Genre: M/M Contemporary
Release Date: February 18, 2016
Spencer Cohen is the guy who gets answers to relationship questions. Playing the role of the new lover, his job is to make his clientâs ex realise one of two things: he doesnât want to break up or he really does. Either way, his client gets answers.
The ex would either apologize and beg, or turn and walk. But in the end, Spencerâs client won. If he wanted his ex back and got him, it was great. If the guy walked away, then as hard it was for the client, he knew it was over. Regardless of the outcome, Spencerâs work was done.
Andrew Landonâs ex left him without so much as an explanation. But his sister canât stand to see him miserable, so, much to Andrewâs dismay, they hire Spencer to be Andrewâs new boyfriend to get the ex back.
For Spencer, it is never personal. Merely a business transaction. No emotions, no strings, no complications.
Yeah right.
Even a blind man could see how this would end.
âThis book was not long, per se, but it wasn't a short novella either. But it simply flew! I felt like I read it in the course of an hour. A start to another winning series for Walker, for sure.â -5 Star Goodreads Review âN.R. Walker will leave you begging for more of this series which has started out with a bang! I simply cannot wait for books 2&3 -- excellent book!!!â -5 Star Review Alpha Book Club âThis book is definitely a re-reading material, a comfort food for my soul, and Iâm kinda obsessed with Spencer and love him like I love Travis in RDH. Sigh. Highly recommended!â - 5 Star Review Reading Addict Momâs Blog
âCome on,â Andrew said, standing up. âLetâs go.â
I slowly closed my laptop. âUh, where exactly are we going?â
âYouâre going to buy me my first Jeff Buckley album.â
I grinned at him. âOh, am I?â
âYes, you are. Unless you want to give me that one.â He pointed to my record player.
âLike hell. Thatâs my favourite.â
âThatâs what I thought,â he said, walking to the door. He turned back to look at meâwhere I hadnât moved fromâand clapped his hands together. âLook alive, Spencer.â
âAlright,â I said, collecting my wallet and keys. I quickly grabbed two bottled waters out of my fridge and handed one to him as we walked out the door. âAre you always so pushy?â
He laughed, and those little lines crinkled the corners of his eyes, and the sun gave a warmth to his skin. He went down the stairs first and waited for me to get to the bottom. I guessed he was unsure of which direction to go. I pointed my thumb to the tattoo shopâs dead bolted door. âCanât access the shop from the outside, so weâll have to go around,â I nodded toward the end of the building, and we settled into a comfortable stride next to each other.
âI assume thereâs a music store around here somewhere,â he said as we neared the street.
âThereâs a few,â I told him. âDid you want CD or LP? I could have just downloaded it for you if that would have been easier.â
âI want LP.â
âDo you have a record player?â
âWell, no. But I think Iâll have to get one. I would imagine jazz and blues from vinyl would be incredible.â
I grinned at him. âIâve created a monster!â
âYou canât just play classic vinyl albums to a music lover and not expect him to want it.â
I grinned. âTrue.â
We walked the two blocks, the banter between us never stopping. He talked with his hands when he explained things, which I found to be rather endearing, and Iâm pretty sure I hadnât stopped smiling since we left my place. I led him down a side alley off the boulevard and stood in front of the door to the music shop. âBefore we go in, you must promise me something.â
He was suddenly serious. âWhat?â
âThis place is special, and thus, must remain a secret.â
âThus?â
âItâs a word.â
âThat no one has used in two hundred years.â
âNot true. I just used it now.â
He laughed. âOkay, so Iâm not supposed to tell anyone I came here?â
âNope. Itâs like Vegas.â
âAs in âWhat happens in Vegas, stays in Vegasâ? Really?â
âYes, really.â I nodded. âItâs too awesome to be popular.â
âIsnât that redundant to their business profitability?â
âPossibly. But itâs completely old-school indie. I think the owner was a pot-smoking surfer from the sixties and has principles against corporations, though Iâve never asked him. Anyway, if too many people know about it, then it becomes mainstream. And that would ruin it.â
He frowned at me. âThen itâs not like Vegas. Itâs more like Fight Club.â
I laughed and bowed my head. âAh, Grasshopper. You have passed the test. You may enter.â He beamed, and I opened the door with a laugh.
He stepped inside. âOkay, wow.â
Friday dragged. Like really dragged. I helped Emilio and Daniela in the shop for a while, made arrangements for when and where to see my next client on Monday afternoon. I cleaned my apartment, I read, I ate, I did all those things, and then I spent a good few hours getting ready and picking out clothes while the clock ticked down like its battery was dying. Because I was losing my mind.
But, like a good boy, at seven oâclock, holding a pizza as requested, I knocked on Andrewâs front door. I heard what sounded like him coming down the stairs, the rattle of the lock on the door, and then he swung the door inward and smiled.
And like some cosmic shift, time was good again. âOh good,â he said. âIâm starving.â
âHi, not bad. Yourself?â I joked at his complete lack of greeting. âCab here was okay, but I donât think the cabbie appreciated the smell of pizza in his car.â
Andrew laughed. âSorry. Hi, how are you? Thatâs good. How was your cab ride here?â
I handed him the pizza box. âYouâre welcome.â
He walked through the living room, slid the pizza onto the table, and went straight into the kitchen. âBeer or soda?â
âBeerâs good.â
âYes it is,â he replied, came back out, and handed me one. He was wearing jeans and an old button-down shirt that looked well-worn and soft. Jesus. His feet were bare. I couldnât remember ever telling him that I found jeans and bare feet hot, but damn.
âThey donât smell bad,â he said, wiggling his toes. âPromise.â
God help me. I totally got caught staring at his feet. When I glanced up at him, he took one look at my face and a slow smile spread across his lips. âOh.â
âShut up.â
He chuckled and clinked his beer bottle to mine. âSo? Pizza? Or do you wanna stare at my feet a little longer?â
Ignoring him before I died of embarrassment, I rolled my eyes and sat at the table. I opened the box and took a slice. âSo? Anyone at work giving you a hard time about the photo we posted on your Facebook?â
He almost bit into his first slice but stopped before it got to his mouth. He groaned. âItâs been painful,â he said. âAll week.â He took a mouthful and hummed appreciatively. âMmm, this is good.â
He devoured four slices to my two. âDidnât you eat today?â I asked.
He shook his head and washed his food down with a mouthful of beer. âNope. Iâve been avoiding the lunchroom because, well, because the latest game around the department seems to be âLetâs ask Andrew 101 questions about his new boyfriend.ââ
âNew boyfriend, huh?â I smiled. I liked that way more than I should have. âWhatâs he like? Bet heâs handsome.â
A rush of heat coloured his cheeks and crept down his neck. âShut up. You know what I mean.â
I picked at the label on my beer bottle. âIâve been called worse things.â
His smile faltered. âBy jealous ex-boyfriends?â
âActually, more by the client,â I admitted. âThe guy who Iâm trying to help. Clearly Iâm not their type, and they find my boredom at city gala openings or nights at the opera a little uncouth.â
âReally? You had to go to gala openings and the opera?â He frowned. âAnd they belittled you for it?â
âYouâd be surprised,â I said softly. âTheyâre paying me to do a job, I guess. They treat me the same way they treat the people who dry clean their clothes or wash their car.â
Andrew nodded slowly, and there was a brief look of hurt on his face before he replaced it with a tight smile. He cleared his throat. âYou must think itâs terribly boring to have a Friday night of pizza and a movie then.â It wasnât a question. More like a confirmation to himself. âIâm not much into going out.â
âAre you kidding me? This is perfect. Pizza and a movie is my kind of night. Sure, getting all frocked up in a suit is cool every now and then, but that shit gets old.â
He smiled somewhat more genuinely, but it was still a little forced. âFrocked up?â
âYou know, dressed up?â I shrugged. âI swear, everyone I know should take a lesson in Australianisms so I donât have to keep explaining these things.â
âOr I could just book myself in for an elective lobotomyâ¦â
I gaped at him. Literally. My mouth fell open. He roared laughing and put his foot up on the table. âHere, look at my bare foot.â
âFuck you.â
That only made him laugh some more.
âYou suck.â
He waggled his eyebrows at me. âYes. Yes I do.â
I groaned, in part because his pun was lame, and in part because now I was thinking about him sucking dick.
âShut up and put the movie on.â
