Rose Goldman has been highly unpopular in the little town of Halfway ever since the 'attack' she suffered as a small girl, which left her scarred - internally and externally. Now, people and animals are terrified of her without knowing why. However, life takes a turn for Rose when a new teacher starts at Halfway High. Mr. Stone, the quirky and charismatic English teacher is twice Rose's age, but she feels an unexplainable pull towards him. Despite her better judgement, Rose pursues a friendship with Mr. Stone who seems unable to stay away from her. What is pulling this unlikely pair together?
Cu's Thoughts
I absolutely loved this book! The writing is flawlessly done and you can feel every emotion Rose goes through. Some things are a bit questionable with the story itself but it's obviously understood why the events happen. As an outsider myself, I found Rose very easy to relate to.
I have to admit there were parts of this story that made me cry, and parts that made me laugh. This story is woven beautifully. The characters are unique in their personalities. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to the next installment. I wonder though if our Alpha Girl will ever find her maker. And if she does what will she do when confronted with the beast that made her as she is?
I'm sure Kate has the answers to these and other surprises up her sleeve. I recommend this book to anyone, who like me, enjoys a good howl at the moon.
